真面目に開発をしていた時には、このアプリケーションを起動しなかった日はないのではないという程お世話になったCodeWarrior。そのデスクトップ向けの製品の販売・サポートを終了するというはがきが届きました。
MacOS Xには「XCode」という開発環境が最初からついてくるようで、わざわざ別のソフトを買う必要はないようです。そう考えるとAppleにビジネスを潰されてしまったと言えなくもありません。Windows用も開発されていましたが、Microsoft自ら開発ツールを販売している牙城に切り込むのは無理だった様です。（Borlandのように共存している会社もあるにはありますが）
System 7.5〜OS 9時代のアプリケーション開発の主役（と私は勝手に思っています）が消えていく様は、なんだか時代の流れの残酷さを感じます。
そういえば今はNorton先生の会社になってしまったSymantecも昔は開発環境を作っていたことを思い出しました。私がプログラミングを始めたころにはもう開発終了していたような気もしますが。
